This is the dog that used to scare Colin when he was little and used to spend the night at his grandparents house.. still scary?? Maybe only at night..

Colin's grandpa is not doing well and so we decided to trek up there last weekend to see him. Our friends have some awesome parents who let us stay in their condo across the street from Temple Square- which made getting up to Centerville easy. It was great to see them, grandpa "willy" as we call him (based on his last name) is so hilarious! He has the best stories and is one of those people that you just click with from the start. The kids were really cute and stayed completely in character, Noah gave hugs although a little uncomfortable at first, Ellie would not even talk, let alone touch anyone for the first half hour (but did warm up after that), Rowan went right up to grandpa, kissed him, and announced "I want to sit on HIS lap!" Liam just smiled and toddled around.. Colin's grandparents loved seeing the kids but it was hard to keep them under semi-control while we were there. They kept commenting on Rowan, she just smiled and talked the entire time. Colin got a bit teary when we left and the kids all went and kissed grandpa on the cheek.. It was kind of a bittersweet moment and I am so glad that we got some pictures.
We also got the chance to visit Colin's aunt and uncle and some of his cousins and their kids. We used to live right by them and do to Sunday dinner with them and they have never met our kids so it was really fun to see them. Sunday night we even got a chance to catch up with some friends that Colin grew up with and the kids had a fabulous time playing in the basement together. All in all, it was a successful day and the kid asked who were going to visit the next day. We DID get a chance to meet up with Trace and Zenia in Cedar City at Winger for about a half hour.. so they weren't disappointed.

What great memories for the kids. I strongly believe that kids need those ties to relatives and that no matter the "type" of relatives they are, it is still important for them to realize that family is more than the people you share a house with. It is important for kids to know there are lots of people out there that love them.
Oh, I bet they just LOVED that visit. How neat that you were able to make the trip. Awesome.
Glad you guys had such a great time - you accomplished a lot! Those pictures are priceless.
It was so fun to see you guys! My boys have been asking when they can play with Noah again....sad! :(
