The Golf Tournament

Okay- so we have discussed this whole golf thing as wives and have decided that the problem with golf isn't the money, and it isn't watching the kids on a saturday all by yourself when you just want to get away from them (although that obviously plays a part..) the problem is that golf takes about 1-2 hours too long. It is in those last hours that you want to kill your children and by extension, your husband when he gets home. So guys- quit at 5 hours (total time) and you have a much better chance at getting to go more often...

So why is there a picture of a DVD player and a golf bag? Because this weekend Colin played in a Golf tournament, and not only did he hand out all the business cards he took with him, his foursome won the contest and got DVD players, and he won the bag in the long drive contest. He later told me that we can save the golf bag for when I get clubs.. umm, yeah. The prizes are great and all but the real reason I was happy with this golf weekend was that he was home in 4.5 hours. Didn't even have time to get all huffy because he was home before I expected him. Now, that is a great day of golf.

Impressive! Cody was so bummed he couldn't play...I best not tell him of the success...it will upset him even more...knowing that he would have been part of the glorious foursome.

I totally agree about the golf thing taking too long...poor Theron hasn't played for a long time...maybe now that the kids are getting older...I go a little mental if he's not home by dinner time or if he leaves me with the kids on Saturdays...so he has to go during the weekday, during work time...that's o.k. with me!

Okay- I guess I have to follow up with the fact that I am glad that Colin wants me to golf with him. Most husbands DO NOT want their wives honing in on their golf time.. I think he just doesn't want me to embarass him if I DO golf (at least learn the rules..)It could be fun- later in life!

I SOOOOOO know what you mean. I am lucky that Paul's golfing is only in San Diego. He has gone a couple of times at home. I agree they are usually so bad at golf that 5 hours and up is what it takes for them to get 18 holes in. We are so grateful when there is someone behind them making them go faster. We do get to go out and yell at them on the course which is fun. BUT I agree, no matter what hole they are on, cut it off at 5hrs.
Pretty cool win for colin.

Ouch, this really hits close to home! I'm playing in a scramble this weekend - but I've promised Amanda a whole afternoon of HomeDepoting when I get home. I've managed to work in quite a few midweek scrambles with work -which helps me get my fix while "networking."

BTW - Amanda realizes that if she wants to see me after I retire she's going to need to learn how to golf.
