YES to Prop 8

Hailing from the beautiful state of California and being the sister of an openly and committed gay brother- I feel that I have a right to an opinion and want to express it. First of all I AM SO SICK OF CLOSED MINDED LIBERALS. That's right- Liberals who allow everyone to believe what they will- EXCEPT conservatives and conservative views. Conservatives have just as much right to an opinion, and rights, as any gay liberal, it is only equal if it goes both ways. We live and grew up in a very politically correct time- to the detriment of family. I am positive that this "PC"ness is just another tool to subvert the plan of Salvation by saying that "any behavior is okay". And it is going to get tougher- the lines are being drawn and we are not going to be allowed to be fence sitters anymore. My Wonderful older sister is a people magnet- she accepts everyone, she loves our brother and he knows that. She was scared to death to put a YES TO PROP 8 sign in the yard because she didn't want people to think that just because she feels Marriage should be defined as between a man and a woman, that people would think she hates gays. Disagreeing with a behavior does not mean you dislike that person!!!! But she put one in her yard because she is a mother first and doesn't want HER RIGHTS taken away. What she probably doesn't understand is that a number of people will see that sign, they know her, and could be influenced for good- or at least be interested enough to ask her why she supports it. She can talk to them and dispel any myths about denying equality- Gays have every right that heterosexuals do-except to call their union "Marriage". Their unions carry all the same political rights as a "marriage" does- it is just called something different. Let us keep our definition of "MARRIAGE" the way it is, PLEASE.

Go Jaime!
My inlaws and SIL have been asked to go door to door in their neighborhood and talk about prop8.
It's a huge deal.
I had so much fun with you guys. Avery asked when we can go back to your house.
Hope we can see you soon. I hope that your hair turned out. I wish I had been more "with it" and could have checked it after a blow dry. If you get bored, come on down.

What drives me crazy is people think this prop is voting on homosexual marriage. Homosexual marriage has been illegal until this year when 4 judges decided to make it legal. 4 people decided for the whole state of California. Hello where was my freedom of speech or vote?
We have gay friends and family and I adore them, however, I do not have to change my morals to be politically correct. Well said Slymer!!

Yes, tolerance goes both ways! I am entitled to my opinion and they are entitled to theirs, but often they forget the othe side of it!

i feel the need to clarify something to all the straight people who read this blog. it is thought that gay men and women want to have the title of "marriage". however, its not the title that we are fighting for. marriage is just a word and not that big of a deal. what we are fighting for is all the benefits that come along with right to have recognized unions. if you would all look at it this way, civil unions have only a third of the rights. {roughly} look at it from this angle, your spouse gets injured and is in the hospital and you cant see them because even though you love them to no end, your union is laughed at and brused off. to make matters worse, you dont get along with your in-laws and they swoop in and dont even let you anywhere near your spouse. so the word marriage is just a word, i dont care what word is chosen to designate gay mariage. its just the rights we are after. i am hymers gay brother and yes i am in a commited relationship. we had a wedding or civil union or what ever term you can settle for. i live in washington state and we civil unions are allowed. i am happy with what it is now, but i would like all the benefits too. it is sad that a sad little eight letter word that has caused so much drama. i hope this had shed new light on this whole situation. this is in no way different than the black movement or the womens movement. so what does justice for all mean to you? i see my civil union as a marriage whether its called that or not.
